
MEYERS LAKE, OH — The Stark County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred Thursday afternoon in the Meyers Lake area. Authorities have identified the victim as 35-year-old Weston Wade, who was pronounced dead at 3:41 p.m. at Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital.
According to Stark County Coroner Chief Investigator Harry Campbell, the incident was reported to law enforcement at 3:07 p.m. Sheriff George Maier confirmed the shooting was domestic in nature and resulted in one fatality. The shooting took place at a residence in the 1500 block of DeVille Avenue NW.
As the investigation unfolds, authorities are examining whether the shooting may have been an act of self-defense. Sheriff Maier stated it is too early to make definitive conclusions. “We are gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses to piece together what occurred,” he added.
