According to police reports, King was walking in the left lane of the road when he unexpectedly stepped directly into the path of a Kia driven by a 36-year-old man from Newark. The crash resulted in King’s death at the scene. Fortunately, the driver, who had two passengers in the vehicle — a 14-year-old and a 17-year-old — were not injured during the accident. The Delaware State Police have confirmed that the driver was not at fault for the crash and are continuing their investigation into the circumstances leading up to the incident.
The investigation aims to determine why King was walking on the road at that time, as well as to gather more information about the events that led to the tragic accident. At present, no additional details about the incident have been released.
Authorities are urging anyone with information related to the crash to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigation. The Delaware State Police are working to piece together the facts and circumstances surrounding the accident, which has left the community shaken.
