
Cookeville, Tenn. — One person is dead following a shooting that occurred Friday night in the parking lot of a shopping center on South Jefferson Avenue, according to the Cookeville Police Department.
Authorities reported that officers responded to a call regarding a shooting at approximately 7:57 p.m. on Friday, April 11, in the parking lot of a business that includes an axe-throwing bar located in the 700 block of South Jefferson Avenue.
Upon arrival, officers discovered the victim, 34-year-old Ashton Bohannon, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Emergency medical personnel transported Bohannon to Cookeville Regional Medical Center, where he was later pronounced deceased.
Cookeville Police confirmed that a 22-year-old male suspect was detained at the scene.
As of the time of publication, no formal charges have been filed, and the investigation remains active.
The Cookeville Police Department stated that detectives are continuing to interview witnesses and gather evidence to determine the circumstances leading up to the shooting.
