
MONETTA, SC – A tragic shooting on Thursday evening has claimed the life of 21-year-old Remedee Jennings-Leaphart, a Batesburg-Leesville resident, as authorities continue their investigation into the incident.
The Aiken County Coroner’s Office reported that the shooting occurred around 6:45 p.m. in the 100 block of Pine Circle. After being shot, Jennings-Leaphart was transported to his mother’s home in Batesburg-Leesville by an unidentified individual. His family then rushed him to a nearby medical clinic, where Lexington County EMS provided emergency care. He was transported to Lexington Medical Center, but despite medical efforts, Jennings-Leaphart succumbed to his injuries at 8:35 p.m.
The Aiken County Coroner’s Office confirmed that the cause of death was a gunshot wound. An autopsy is scheduled to take place in Newberry to provide further insights into the nature of the fatal injuries.
