
A devastating collision in Dakota County on Wednesday afternoon resulted in the death of one driver and left two others injured. The accident occurred at an intersection in Marshan Township, southeast of Hastings, at approximately 4:15 p.m., according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
The crash involved a Hyundai Elantra driven by 38-year-old Ramazan Ali Rahmani of Burnsville and a Chevy Silverado traveling southbound on Highway 61. Rahmani’s vehicle was heading east on 190th Street when the collision took place. The impact of the crash proved fatal for Rahmani, who was wearing a seat belt at the time.
Tragically, Rahmani was pronounced dead following the accident. His passenger, 29-year-old Mahdi Rahmani, suffered severe injuries and was transported to Regions Hospital in St. Paul for emergency medical care. Mahdi’s condition has not been disclosed, but authorities confirmed his injuries were serious.
The driver of the Silverado, 42-year-old Theresa Fredin from Cannon Falls, Minnesota, sustained non-critical injuries. Fredin was also transported to Regions Hospital, where she is expected to recover. While the physical toll on Fredin was less severe, the emotional impact of the crash has left all involved deeply affected.
Initial investigations by the Minnesota State Patrol revealed that alcohol was not a contributing factor in the collision, and road conditions were dry at the time. While these factors have been ruled out, the exact cause of the crash remains unknown.
