SAN ANTONIO, TX – A high-speed pursuit following a shooting call has resulted in the death of a 43-year-old woman and left multiple questions unanswered. The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the deceased as Priscilla Gaiton, who died early Saturday morning after her vehicle crashed during a law enforcement chase.
The sequence of events began around 2 a.m. when San Antonio police responded to a shooting on Woodlake Parkway. At the scene, officers discovered 25-year-old Jennifer Rodriguez with multiple gunshot wounds inside a home. Rodriguez was transported to a hospital but was pronounced dead. Authorities have not identified a suspect or disclosed details about Rodriguez’s relationship to Gaiton.
Shortly after the shooting, Gaiton fled the scene in her vehicle. A deputy from the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO), who had heard gunshots while on patrol, observed Gaiton driving at high speed and attempted to initiate a traffic stop. Gaiton refused to comply, leading to a chase that ended when she lost control of her car near the I-35 access road, crashing into a light pole. The impact ejected her from the vehicle, resulting in her death.
During a search of the crash site, deputies found an AK-style rifle with a live round in Gaiton’s car and a fully loaded magazine nearby. Her 19-year-old passenger, identified as Ethan Gonzales, fled on foot but was quickly apprehended. While being treated at a hospital, Gonzales made another escape attempt, leading deputies to use a taser before taking him back into custody. Gonzales now faces charges of evading arrest and escape from custody, with bond set at $20,000.
The relationship between Gaiton, Gonzales, and Rodriguez remains unclear. Authorities have acknowledged connections among the three individuals but have not provided further details. Investigations are ongoing, with the San Antonio Police Department focusing on Rodriguez’s shooting and BCSO examining the circumstances of the chase and Gaiton’s crash.
Following protocol for in-custody deaths, three BCSO deputies involved in the pursuit have been placed on administrative leave. Sheriff Javier Salazar stated he believes the deputies acted in accordance with department policies.
As the investigations progress, law enforcement urges anyone with information to come forward to help uncover the full circumstances surrounding these tragic events.
