It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Nick Johnson, a beloved friend, colleague, and veterinarian at Stanley House Vets. Nick passed away on December 6, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer. His loss leaves a void not only in our practice but also in the hearts of the many who were touched by his kindness, skill, and unwavering passion for animals.
For 18 years, Nick devoted himself to his role at Stanley House, earning the admiration and gratitude of both his colleagues and clients. A brilliant vet, Nick was known for his exceptional care and dedication to his patients. Beyond his professional accomplishments, he brought warmth and humor to the workplace, leaving a lasting impression on all who worked alongside him.
In his final weeks, Nick was cared for at Pendleside Hospice by a remarkable team who provided comfort and support to him and his family. To honor his memory, Stanley House Vets invites the community to participate in a Christmas Jumper fundraiser this week, with all proceeds going to Pendleside Hospice.
As per Nick’s wishes, there will be no formal funeral. Instead, a Celebration of Life will be held on January 7, 2025, from 12:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., at Fence Gate, Wheatley Lane Road, Fence, Burnley, BB12 9EE. Friends, family, and colleagues are welcome to join in raising a glass, sharing memories, and enjoying good food—a fitting tribute to a man who loved life and cherished the people around him.
Nick’s passions extended far beyond his veterinary practice. He was a loving son, brother, and uncle, as well as an avid hockey player, horse rider, and talented photographer. He had always dreamed of contributing to Vets Without Borders, a charity that aligned with his love for animals and his desire to make a difference in the world.
For those unable to attend the celebration, donations to Vets Without Borders in Nick’s name can be made through Stanley House Vets. A collection box will also be available at the venue.
Nick Johnson’s legacy is one of compassion, dedication, and an enduring love for animals and people alike. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
