
Berkeley County Coroner Darnell Hartwell identified the person killed in a car vs. train collision in Moncks Corner on Wednesday evening March 12.
Hartwell reports the victim is 59-year-old William Jeffery Foster from Moncks Corner. According to the coroner’s office, the call came in around 7:30 p.m. Foster was pronounced deceased at the scene and was operating the vehicle.
The passenger in the vehicle is in critical but stable condition at a local hospital.
Those first arriving at the scene, according to Hartwell, include the Moncks Corner PD, Berkeley County EMS and Fire, SCDOT, the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office, county emergency management and units from both Amtrak and CSX railways.
The investigation by the coroner’s office and the Moncks Corner Police Department is still ongoing.
