
LIPSCOMB, AL – Authorities are investigating a fatal overnight shooting in Lipscomb that claimed the life of an 18-year-old male and left a second victim wounded.
The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office confirmed that the shooting occurred at approximately 12:45 a.m. Wednesday in the 1800 block of Crescent Avenue.
Emergency responders transported the 18-year-old male victim to UAB Medical West, where he was pronounced deceased at 1:20 a.m.
His identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
A second victim, reportedly a female, also sustained injuries in the shooting.
However, the extent of her condition has not yet been disclosed.
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office has taken the lead in the investigation, working to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting and identify any suspects or motives.
Authorities have not yet released information regarding potential suspects, and no arrests have been announced.
This marks the first homicide in Lipscomb in 2025, highlighting growing concerns about gun violence in the area.
Jefferson County has recorded 26 homicides so far this year, underscoring the need for continued efforts to curb violent crime.
