
Authorities are piecing together the events surrounding a fatal shooting at a Lafayette laundromat on Thursday evening, December 5, 2024. The tragic incident left one man dead and three others injured, including the alleged shooter.
The shooting occurred around 7:40 p.m. at the Lafayette Laundromat, formerly known as Maytag Laundromat, located at 3100 South Street. Officers responding to the scene discovered 35-year-old Keith Ford critically injured in the parking lot. Despite being rushed to IU Arnett Hospital, Ford succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival, according to Tippecanoe County Coroner Carrie Costello.
Inside the laundromat, police found three additional victims suffering from gunshot wounds. Renee Martin, 32, and Salvador Antonio De La Cruz Reyes, 30, were transported to a local hospital and are currently in stable condition. The suspected shooter, a man from Lincoln, Nebraska, sustained a self-inflicted gunshot wound and remains in critical condition. Authorities have not yet released his identity.
Investigators are working with the Lincoln Police Department to uncover more about the suspect’s background and any potential motives. At this time, it remains unclear whether the victims and the suspect were acquainted or what may have led to the violence.
