CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – The Nueces County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified 21-year-old Justin Tyler Camacho as the victim of a fatal shooting Sunday night at the Windrush Apartments on Kostoryz Road.
On Monday, the Corpus Christi Police Department (CCPD) arrested four suspects linked to the incident after surveillance footage revealed the shooting stemmed from a “drug deal gone bad.” The suspects are Guillermo Martinez, 18; Aaron Fuentes, 17; Angel Galindo, 17; and Eduardo Hernandez-Carrizales, 19. All face charges of capital murder and engaging in organized crime, while Galindo also faces a weapons charge for carrying a handgun at the time of his arrest.
Camacho was fatally shot while sitting inside a vehicle at the apartment complex. Authorities stated that the suspects fled the scene on foot but were later apprehended through a coordinated effort involving CCPD Robbery/Homicide Detectives, CCPD Gang Officers, and the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Fugitive Task Force.
Investigators recovered six handguns during the probe, including one linked to the shooting. Officials have confirmed that the suspects are members of a criminal street gang and were also involved in an aggravated robbery earlier that day. Their charges fall under Texas’ Law of Parties, which allows individuals who participate in a crime to be held as accountable as the person who directly committed it. If convicted, the suspects could face life in prison without parole or the death penalty.
The arrests highlight the CCPD’s commitment to curbing gang-related violence in Corpus Christi. “These crimes devastate families and communities,” a CCPD spokesperson said. “We will pursue every lead to bring justice for the victims.”
The investigation remains ongoing as authorities examine evidence and conduct interviews. Anyone with information about the case is encouraged to contact the Corpus Christi Police Department at 361-886-2600 or submit anonymous tips through Crime Stoppers at 361-888-TIPS (8477).
This tragic incident emphasizes the serious risks associated with gang activity and the far-reaching consequences of gun violence. As the community mourns Justin Camacho’s death, law enforcement continues to work tirelessly to ensure accountability and safety for all residents.
