
HOUSTON, Texas — Tragedy struck on December 1, 2024, when a fatal car crash claimed the life of 7-year-old Ivory Smith and left her mother, Christina Quainoo, critically injured. The collision occurred in the 10900 block of Bammel North Houston Road and is believed to have been caused by impaired driving.
Deputies from Constable Mark Herman’s Office responded to the crash, where they arrested the suspected drunk driver, Joel Gonzalez Chacin, at the scene. Chacin has been charged with Intoxication Manslaughter and is being held in the Harris County Jail on a $150,000 bond set by the 232nd District Court.
