Authorities are investigating a fatal deputy-involved shooting in Travelers Rest, Greenville County, South Carolina. The incident occurred Saturday night on Mountain Lake Lane after deputies responded to a report of a suicidal individual.
According to Lt. Ryan Flood of the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched to the scene at around 8 p.m. Upon arrival, they encountered Jason Dominic Mason, who was reportedly armed. A confrontation unfolded, escalating to the point where deputies discharged their weapons.
Mason was struck at least once and transported to a nearby hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The Greenville County Coroner’s Office confirmed his death. No deputies were injured during the encounter.
