
Effingham County authorities are investigating a fatal shooting that left one man dead and another injured early Sunday morning.
According to the Effingham County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a report of gunfire at the Parker’s gas station on Old Augusta Road shortly after 2:30 a.m.
Upon arrival, officers discovered a male victim with a gunshot wound to the head.
He was pronounced dead at the scene. He has been identified as Jamar Hall.
A second individual, also suffering from a gunshot wound, was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment.
Their current condition has not been released.
Investigators have since determined that the shooting itself occurred in Port Wentworth, although the precise location remains unclear.
Authorities are working closely with the Port Wentworth Police Department to piece together the events leading up to the incident.
Law enforcement officials urge anyone who was in the area of Parker’s on Old Augusta Road, Port Wentworth, or Rincon between 2:00 a.m. and 3:00 a.m. on Sunday to come forward with any information.
