
Authorities in Greeley have launched an investigation into the fatal shooting of a 14-year-old boy, identified as Alonso, that occurred early Monday evening.
According to the Greeley Police Department, officers responded to a report of a shooting at the Sunlight Townhomes, located in the 500 block of 16th Street, shortly after the incident was reported.
Upon arrival, officers discovered the teenage victim unresponsive and suffering from gunshot injuries.
Emergency medical personnel rendered aid, but the boy was later pronounced deceased.
In a statement released by police, investigators confirmed that multiple witnesses were interviewed at the scene.
As a result of the ongoing investigation, a juvenile suspect was identified, arrested, and booked on charges related to the shooting.
Authorities have not released further information regarding the identity of the suspect or the circumstances that led to the incident, citing the involvement of minors.
Police emphasized that the shooting appears to be an isolated incident, and there is no ongoing threat to the public.
