
Franklinton, LA – Authorities have arrested an 18-year-old suspect in connection with a gang-related shooting that left five people injured following the Pepe Mardi Gras parade on Sunday evening.
According to the Franklinton Police Department (FPD), officers stationed along the parade route responded to reports of gunfire at approximately 7:00 p.m. near the event area.
Upon arrival, law enforcement officers secured the scene and began rendering aid to multiple victims suffering from gunshot wounds.
The suspect, identified as Jamerian Anders, 18, was taken into custody at the scene and has been charged with five counts of attempted first-degree murder.
Authorities believe the shooting was gang-related, though further details regarding the motive have not been released.
Of the five victims, two were treated and later released from the hospital, while three remain hospitalized, including one victim in critical condition.
The investigation remains active, and authorities are working to determine whether additional individuals were involved.
