
A tragic collision on Monday afternoon in Amarillo resulted in the death of a 37-year-old man and left two others injured. The crash occurred at approximately 1:38 p.m. in the 5300 block of Hillside Road, involving a 2015 Subaru driven by Dylan Thomas Bird and a 2012 Ford Focus.
According to the Amarillo Police Department, Bird was driving eastbound in the inside lane of Hillside Road when he attempted an unsafe lane change. This move caused both vehicles to collide, resulting in a loss of control. The impact sent both vehicles off the road, where they struck a nearby residence and a wooden electrical pole.
Tragically, Dylan Bird succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. A child passenger in Bird’s Subaru sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment. The 31-year-old driver of the Ford Focus also suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to an area hospital for care.
