The fatal accident occurred around 5:30 p.m. on Del Valle Road near the entrance to Del Valle Regional Reservoir. According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), Alvarado was driving a BMW 535i northbound at excessive speeds when the vehicle crossed into oncoming traffic before colliding with a tree on the right shoulder. Emergency responders rushed to the scene, but Alvarado was pronounced dead on-site. Authorities are still investigating the crash and have not determined additional contributing factors.
