
Lorain police launched a homicide investigation over the weekend, and officers say the shooter remains on the loose.
The victim has been identified by police as William Cummings, 31, of Cleveland.
According to police, officers were first called out around 4 a.m. Saturday for a crash at Broadway Avenue and West 6th Street.
Officers say they found Cummings injured inside the car.
Police later learned that before the crash, there was a shooting nearby at Bootlegger’s Den, located at 538 Broadway Ave.
That’s when police say they discovered bullet holes in Cummings’ car and realized he had been shot.
He was rushed to Mercy Hospital in Lorain, where officers say he sadly died days after the shooting.
The shooting remains under investigation, and there’s no word on any arrests.
