The Kentucky State Police (KSP) Pikeville Post is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred on Saturday, January 11, in the Steele community of Pike County. The shooting took place at a residence on Laurel Fork Road, where authorities discovered 42-year-old Christopher Lester of Steele suffering from fatal gunshot wounds.
Despite the efforts of emergency responders, Lester was pronounced dead at the scene by the Pike County Coroner’s Office. His body has been sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy to determine the official cause of death.
Following the investigation, two men—Michael Brown and Anthony Browning—have been arrested in connection with the shooting. Both individuals face charges of murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Brown was apprehended by the Buchanan County Sheriff’s Office in Virginia, where he was arrested on a Kentucky warrant. He remains in custody, awaiting extradition to Kentucky. Brown has also been identified as a person of interest in another shooting incident in Kentucky.
The details surrounding Browning’s arrest have not been disclosed, but he, too, is in custody. KSP investigators are continuing to work diligently to determine the full circumstances leading to Lester’s death and any potential connections between the suspects and the victim.
Authorities have called on the public to come forward with any information that could assist in the investigation. Anyone with relevant details is urged to contact the Kentucky State Police Pikeville Post.
As the investigation continues, the community remains on edge, awaiting further developments. The arrest of the two suspects marks an important step in resolving the case, and investigators are working to uncover the truth behind this tragic event.
