
CHICAGO, IL – Chicago police are investigating a drive-by shooting that left a 15-year-old girl injured outside Perspectives High School of Technology & Leadership Academy on Tuesday morning.
The incident occurred just before 8 a.m. in the 8500 block of South Lafayette Avenue as the victim was walking near the school, according to authorities.
A black sedan approached the area, and two unidentified male suspects exited the vehicle and opened fire before fleeing southbound in the car.
The victim sustained a gunshot wound to the left thigh and was transported to a nearby hospital, where she is reported to be in fair condition.
No other injuries have been reported.
A heavy police presence was observed at the scene, with yellow crime scene tape blocking off the area and evidence markers scattered on the street.
Parents, students, and bystanders gathered outside the school as officers conducted their investigation.
No suspects are currently in custody, and detectives are actively investigating the case.
