
CHARLESTON, SC – The Charleston County Coroner’s Office has identified two Jamaican nationals who lost their lives in a multi-vehicle crash on Halfway Creek Road on January 3, 2025. The victims were 38-year-old Camesha Lindsay and 47-year-old O’Neil Stevens.
The incident occurred around 6:00 p.m. when Lindsay and Stevens exited their stalled vehicle due to a mechanical issue. Tragically, as they stepped out of their car, they were struck by a passing vehicle. According to the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office, the crash was not a hit-and-run, as the driver of the vehicle stopped at the scene and cooperated with authorities.
Stevens was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders. Lindsay was transported to Roper Mount Pleasant Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries later that evening at approximately 7:02 p.m., confirmed Coroner Bobbi Jo O’Neal.
Authorities have yet to release the identity of the driver involved in the collision as the investigation remains ongoing. The Charleston County Sheriff’s Office is working to reconstruct the events that led to the crash and to determine whether any charges will be filed.
The tragic deaths of Lindsay and Stevens have left the community in mourning, with friends and family seeking answers and closure. Both victims were remembered as kind and hardworking individuals whose lives were cut short in a devastating accident.
