Glendale, AZ – A domestic violence call turned deadly on Wednesday night, leaving one man dead and another critically injured in an officer-involved shooting. The Glendale Police Department identified the deceased as 39-year-old Angelo Amor.
The incident began around 7:00 p.m. near 47th and Glendale Avenues when police responded to a domestic violence complaint. According to authorities, a woman at the scene alleged that Amor had threatened her with a firearm. Before officers arrived, Amor fled in a vehicle, prompting law enforcement to search the area for the suspect.
Shortly thereafter, officers located a vehicle matching the suspect’s description near 47th Avenue and Diana. A man outside the vehicle fit the description provided by the woman. Police instructed the man, later identified as Amor, to show his hands. While he initially complied, officers reported that Amor then dropped his hands and appeared to reach for something. One officer responded by firing their weapon, fatally striking Amor.
In addition to Amor, another man was discovered at the scene with critical injuries. It remains unclear how this individual sustained his injuries or what connection he may have had to Amor. Authorities have not released the injured man’s identity as they work to uncover the circumstances surrounding his involvement.
No officers were injured during the confrontation. To ensure a transparent investigation, the Glendale Police Department has turned the case over to the Peoria Police Department. Officials have not yet disclosed whether a firearm or other weapon was recovered from the scene, and they emphasize that the investigation is still in its early stages.
