The Copperas Cove Police Department (CCPD) identified the victim as Shasmine Ta Shawn Clack, who was found critically wounded in the 900 block of Tanner Drive.
Officers responded to reports of gunfire around 11:48 a.m. and discovered Clack suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Emergency medical services (EMS) transported her to AdventHealth Central Texas, where medical personnel attempted life-saving measures. Despite their efforts, she succumbed to her injuries shortly after arrival.
Following an initial investigation, authorities quickly identified a suspect and launched a search. The suspect, later identified as 27-year-old Alonzo Ezekiel Hunter of Beaumont, Texas, was located at a nearby hotel and taken into custody without incident. He has been formally charged with murder and is being held on a $500,000 bond, set by Justice of the Peace F.W. “Bill” Price.
