NASHVILLE, TN – Authorities have identified 17-year-old Solomon Henderson as the suspect in the tragic Antioch High School shooting that unfolded Wednesday morning in Nashville.
Henderson allegedly livestreamed himself with a firearm shortly before opening fire in the school’s cafeteria. The attack resulted in the death of Josselin Corea Escalante, a female student, while another female victim sustained a gunshot wound to her arm. A male student suffered a facial injury unrelated to gunfire.
According to the Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD), Henderson’s actions were premeditated. Investigators have uncovered evidence suggesting the attack was planned, including names inscribed on the suspect’s ammunition magazines.
A manifesto linked to Henderson has surfaced, titled “The West Has Fallen – Billions Must Die – Accelerate.” In the document, Henderson reportedly expressed extremist views and cited radicalization through online content, including YouTube influencers. Authorities are reviewing his digital activity to uncover further motivations.
The incident ended when Henderson took his own life at the scene. Responding officers swiftly secured the school and ensured no further threat. A reunification site for parents and students was established at 3754 Murfreesboro Pike, where buses transported students to meet their families.
Metro Nashville Public Schools confirmed the school’s lockdown and pledged to support law enforcement efforts in the ongoing investigation. Counseling services have been made available to help the school community cope with the tragedy.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) is assisting MNPD in tracing the firearm and gathering evidence. Authorities continue to urge anyone with additional information about the incident or Henderson’s activities to come forward.
As Nashville mourns the loss of life and prays for the recovery of the injured, the community is left grappling with questions about school safety, mental health, and online influences. This tragic event underscores the need for vigilance and preventive measures to protect students and staff from future violence.
